German court queries EU judges over renewable-power state aid support

( June 13, 2016, 13:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The administrative court in Frankfurt has asked judges at the highest EU court whether a 2014 European Commission decision on state aid for renewable power and energy-intensive users breaches EU rules insofar as the watchdog classified the limitation of the renewable-energy surcharge as aid. In November 2014, the commission decided that reductions to a surcharge granted to energy-intensive companies as part of the country’s 2012 Renewable Energy Act were in line with EU rules.
