Acreage shareholders approve merger of cannabis company with Canopy Growth

At a special meeting of shareholders, 95.02 percent of votes eligible to be cast were voted, with 99.74 percent of such votes cast in favor of the merger, including 97.21 percent of votes cast by "disinterested shareholders," meaning shareholders that are not insiders or associates of an insider, according to a statement. On May 6, investment fund Marcato announced it would vote its 2.7 percent stake in Acreage against Canopy's buyout offer, arguing the price is too low, the deal concluded without a proper bidding process and the company's directors may have violated their fiduciary duty to protect shareholders.Statement follows below:...
