EU’s AI liability rules might not arrive after all

The proposed directive regulating AI liability is currently under review by the European Parliamentary Research Service, and could be dropped as the EU Parliament and EU Council raise questions about its necessity alongside national legislation and the EU product liability directive. Now that the AI Act has been officially adopted and will come into force in July, all eyes will be on its implementation and the necessary secondary legislation.Artificial intelligence providers in the EU, such as OpenAI — as well as users — aren't likely to face a specific law on AI product liability, as EU governments and the European Parliament are questioning its necessity....
