EPIC backs plaintiff in opposition to Facebook settlement in message scanning case

( February 1, 2018, 23:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Electronic Privacy Information Center has filed an amicus brief with the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in support of Anna St. John in her appeal of a decision granting final approval to Facebook's settlement of a class action accusing the company of violating federal wiretap laws. EPIC says that the settlement does not prevent Facebook from resuming the practices that provided the basis for the lawsuit, and allows Facebook to continue to scan private messages simply by posting a notice on a Facebook webpage, which is contrary to the law.See document below....
