Meta Platforms ordered to suspend election information tools in Spain over GDPR concerns

The Spanish data protection authority AEPD said today that it issued the three-month ban because it thinks that the data processing planned by Meta for the tools “involves an action contrary to the General Data Protection Regulation.” A Meta spokesperson said: “Our election tools have been expressly designed to respect users’ privacy and to comply with the GDPR.
