Accor fined EUR600,000 by French privacy watchdog for GDPR violations

( August 17, 2022, 08:02 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: French hotel group Accor has been fined 600,000 euros (around $610,000) by the French privacy watchdog, for several violations of the EU's General Data Protection Regulation and of national privacy laws. The CNIL said that Accor had failed to obtain users' consent to process their data for commercial prospecting purposes when they signed up for an account on the company's website. The CNIL was obliged to raise the fine, after several unnamed data protection authorities said the proposed penalty wasn't dissuasive enough.Press release below and decision is attached....
