Utah enacts 'safe harbor' for companies that suffer data breaches
( March 11, 2021, 14:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Utah legislature has passed, and the state's governor has signed into law, a Cybersecurity Affirmative Defense Act that provides a safe harbor from regulatory risk for companies that suffer a data breach, if the company has in place "and reasonably complies with a written cybersecurity program" following standards such as those set out by the National Institute for Standards and Technology, NIST.See attached legislation....
