Brazil rules on data-privacy sanctions to boost compliance, ANPD president says

By Ana Paula Candil ( March 1, 2023, 21:52 GMT | Insight) -- The Brazilian data protection authority's new regulations on fine calculations and on the application of other data-privacy sanctions "will surely" encourage companies and public bodies to comply with the country's data protection law, said agency President Waldemar Gonçalves Ortunho Júnior in his first speech after the publication of the rules. Ortunho Júnior said the regulations will ensure that sanctions are proportional to the level of severity of the infraction and will bring legal certainty to companies.
