​Amazon handed warning by Japanese privacy regulator over data mishap

( October 11, 2019, 10:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- Amazon was issued with a warning by Japan’s Personal Information Protection Commission over a data mishap due to a technical glitch in September. On September 26, personal information — including the names, mailing addresses, account activities and viewing logs — of about 110,000 Amazon users were temporarily accessible by other users due to a technical malfunction. The problem was fixed on the same day, and Amazon notified the affected users on Oct. 4, the commission said. Amazon had reported the incident to the commission.
