EU e-commerce rules should be overhauled, tech group CCIA says

( June 17, 2019, 16:57 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The EU should review its e-commerce directive aiming to achieve a "pro-innovative regime" that offers legal clarity for businesses, said the Computer & Communications Industry Association, which represents Amazon, Facebook, Google, Intel and other tech companies. "The introduction of a new ‘Good Samaritan’ provision would make sure companies are not punished for their efforts to fight illegal content," the CCIA told the Finnish government in a list of recommendations for EU tech, weeks before Finland takes over the EU's six-month rotating presidency. In other recommendations, the CCIA said the EU shouldn't create a competition enforcement regime specifically targeting digital companies.Statement follows in full.
