BJC, a biological purification technology company, had supplied micro-organisms that purify toxic substances created during the automobile manufacturing process, but Hyundai suddenly stopped dealing with the firm in May 2015 as it developed new substitute technology. In February 2016, BJC reported Hyundai to the KFTC but the commission cleared Hyundai, saying such technology didn't require high-level skills to develop, and that there had been no extortion. However, the watchdog decided to restart its investigation as an additional report was submitted. Meanwhile, it was found that Hyundai Motor Group had received the biggest fines for fair trade law violations among the country's top 10 conglomerates sanctioned by the KFTC: 85.1 billion won ($75.2 million) in the past 18 months....
