​Facebook, Google should face further ad-tech inquiry, Australian TV broadcasters say

( September 23, 2019, 07:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Facebook and Google should face a new inquiry from Australia's competition watchdog into the companies' conduct in the ad-tech market, according to Australia's free-to-air television broadcasters. In a submission to the national government's consultation on the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission, or ACCC's final report on digital platforms, Free TV Australia called on the government to adopt "the vast majority" of the regulator's recommendations. The ACCC should set up a new "Digital Platforms Branch" to undertake the ad-tech inquiry, Free TV said and a mandatory code of conduct should be enforced to ensure the timely removal of illegal content.
