South Korea's KFTC commissions study into unfair trade practices in medical device market

( May 29, 2024, 07:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Korea Fair Trade Commission is soliciting tenders for a research project to investigate unfair trade practices in the medical device distribution market. According to the regulator, the research will analyze the market structure and competitive landscape of the medical device industry, identify types and cases of potential unfair practices such as unfair payment terms, excessive fees, consignment sales and price-cutting, and propose policy recommendations to promote fair competition. The commission said it aims to develop measures to address anticompetitive practices and keep healthcare costs down for consumers in light of an aging population and rising healthcare expenditures. The project is set to span six months from the contract date, with deliverables including interim and final reports.The notice posted by the KFTC, in Korean, is attached....
