Google hit with latest US antitrust class action alleging monopolization of Android apps

( November 25, 2020, 02:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google has been hit by the latest in a series of antitrust complaints over its alleged monopolization of the Google Play app store, this one claiming that by making it more difficult to "sideload" apps to an Android device from non-Google app stores, Google has been able to maintain a monopoly and collect supracompetitive prices of 30 percent of the cost of in-app purchases. "By impeding (or interfering with) user access to third-party app stores, Google was able to extract supracompetitive prices for its Android app distribution services and for processing in-app purchases on apps downloaded through the Google Play store," plaintiff Jared Stark of Leavenworth, Kansas, said in a complaint filed in US District Court in San Jose, California.See attached complaint....
