UK telecoms get draft of security bill, introducing ban on high-risk vendors

( November 24, 2020, 15:42 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: UK telecom providers have been given a draft of the much-anticipated Telecommunications (Security) Bill, which is set to ban high-risk equipment vendors, such as Huawei, from their supply chain, and to impose stricter network security requirements with fines of up to 10 percent of their revenue for noncompliance. The legislation, published on the parliament's website, will now face scrutiny in the House of Commons. Some lawmakers previously called for the rules to be tightened up even further, so that mobile network operators must phase out Huawei's equipment up to two years ahead of the previously declared deadline of 2027.The bill and the explanatory notes are attached....
