US FTC report to Congress examines anticompetitive repair restrictions

The “Nixing the Fix” report details a host of restrictions, especially those imposed by mobile phone and car manufacturers, resulting in increased costs and limited choices for consumers. The report explores means of expanding consumers’ repair options and how the FTC could assist in that expansion, consistent with its statutory authority.
