Surfside sues Allscripts in Illinois over ransomware breach

( January 25, 2018, 23:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Surfside Non-Surgical Orthopedics has filed class action litigation against Allscripts in the Northern District of Illinois, following a Jan. 18 ransomware attack and blocked Surfside from accessing patient records and issuing prescriptions. Surfide alleged Allscripts was guilty of gross negligence, breach of contract, unjust enrichment and violations of Illinois consumer protection laws by failing to maintain adequate computer security. Allscripts provides data services to 45,000 physician practices and 180,000 physicians, and was aware "that deficiencies in its products and services could result in privacy and security vulnerability or compromises, and failed to take adequate measures to protect against any such event," Surfside alleged.Please see attached complaint....
