British Airways, Iberia, Vueling owner pledges for climate neutrality by 2050

( October 10, 2019, 11:22 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: International Airlines Group — which owns various European flight operators such as British Airways, Iberia, Vueling and Aer Lingus — has committed to achieving “net-zero” carbon emissions by 2050, the company said in a statement today. In addition, the group announced a set of measures to achieve this goal, including British Airways’ investments in carbon-reduction projects for its domestic flights, investments in sustainable fuels, as well as aircraft replacements. “In addition to our own initiatives, there must be a global solution and we’re participating in the new United Nations aviation-offsetting scheme, which allows our industry to invest in carbon reduction in other sectors,” IAG chief Willie Walsh said.A full statement is attached....
