CS Energy's bid for ailing Callide C power station can proceed, Australian regulator says

( May 24, 2024, 01:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Electricity generator CS Energy’s proposed acquisition of the Callide C power station in the northeastern state of Queensland can proceed, after Australia’s competition watchdog announced it had cleared the deal. In an update to its website, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said the proposed deal wasn’t likely to substantially lessen competition in the relevant markets. IG Callide entered voluntary administration in March 2023 and the ACCC has suggested that there wouldn’t be a viable alternative purchaser of the company’s 50 percent stake in a coal-fired power station.
