Federal Circuit clarifies post-'Alice' rules on patentability in McRO decision

( September 14, 2016, 01:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: In a precedential opinion involving the synchronization of sound and animation in video game technology, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has clarified rules for the patenability of software technology in the wake of the US Supreme Court's ruling in Alice v. CLS Bank. In clarifying that data processing claims may be eligible for patent protection even if they don't create a tangible, physical product, and saying that technological improvements may be patent-eligible, the Federal Circuit clarified its interpretation of Section 101 of the Patent Act. Please see attached opinion....
