UK video-sharing platforms given draft guidance on notification duty

( November 19, 2020, 16:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Video-sharing platforms such as TikTok, Twitch and Vimeo have been given a draft guidance on regulatory obligation to notify the UK's telecom regulator of their services, starting from April 2021. The document, published by Ofcom, contains a series of self-assessment criteria for companies to check if they meet the legal definition of a VSP under the new law and fall under the UK jurisdiction, and need to report to the watchdog. In the future, any new VSP will need to notify the watchdog of its intent to launch at least 10 days in advance. The closing deadline for consultation on the new rules is Jan. 14, with the final guidance expected in March.Statement follows. The draft guidance is attached....
