Defendants in water-meter cartel probe to submit final defenses in Brazil

( August 2, 2022, 15:06 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Defendants in a Brazilian antitrust probe into the market for water utility meters have been told to submit their final defenses, according to a statement. After that, the Superintendence of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense, or CADE, will issue an opinion on the case that will be referred to the agency’s governing Tribunal for a definitive ruling. In 2015, CADE opened an investigation on several companies, including Elster Medição de Água, FAE Ferragens e Indústria de Hidrômetros, and Sensus Metering Systems do Brasil, as well as individuals linked to them, for allegedly sharing the market and fixing prices in public bids. OJ statement follows in Portuguese:...
