NIO, Shell team up for charging, swapping stations in Europe, China

( August 2, 2022, 15:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Chinese electric vehicle maker NIO said today it has teamed up with energy giant Shell to work on battery swapping stations in Europe and China. The partnership will look at transferring to Europe NIO's existing technology for swapping — not charging — car batteries, potentially radically shortening vehicle-servicing times. The announcement comes days after NIO said it would build its first European factory in Hungary, which will focus on the manufacture and after-sales service of battery-swapping stations. NIO started its operations in Norway last year, and hopes to expand to Sweden, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands later this year.Statements follow....
