Greek telecom operator fined for GDPR violations over promotional calls

( October 7, 2019, 13:44 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Hellenic Telecommunications Organization, a Greek technology and telecom company, has been ordered to pay two fines totalling 400,000 euros for violations of the EU's General Data Protection Regulation. The Greek data protection authority said it received complaints from telephony subscribers who had received promotional calls despite having signed up to opt out of such calls, and complaints from people saying they could not get themselves removed from a list of those receiving advertising messages.Statements in Greek attached....
