EC Statement: Resource Efficient Europe Flagship Initiative

( January 26, 2011, 10:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission today launched a decade-long overarching strategy to use raw materials, including energy, more efficiently, with the aim of making the EU more competitive, less reliant on imports, and less vulnerable to commodity prices. The initiative will provide the strategic rationale for policies across numerous areas including climate change, energy, transport, industry, agriculture and regional development. Specific initiatives that will be tabled this year as a result of the policy will include a 2020 energy efficiency plan, a low-carbon economy 'roadmap' for 2050, and a 2050 strategy for energy.IP/11/63...
