US Senator Klobuchar reintroduces antitrust enforcement reform bill

( May 16, 2024, 20:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US Senator Amy Klobuchar reintroduced the Competition and Antitrust Law Enforcement Reform Act, which aims to give federal antitrust enforcers more resources, strengthen prohibitions on anticompetitive conduct and mergers, and make additional reforms to improve enforcement. Klobuchar, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee's subcommittee on antitrust and competition, said the bill would establish a new, independent FTC division to conduct market studies and merger retrospectives. If passed, the bill would also create a provision under the Clayton Act to prohibit “exclusionary conduct” that presents an “appreciable risk of harming competition."Statement follows...
