US Treasury official says US will press China on transparency, investment treaty

( May 25, 2016, 20:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Nathan Sheets, the US Treasury Secretary for International Affairs, gave a talk at the Brookings Institution providing an outlook for what to expect from the Strategic Economic Dialogue, a high-level bilateral talk between the US and China, scheduled to take place in early June in Beijing. Sheets said the US will “continue to press China” on supporting consumer demand, improving transparency, and liberalizing investment rules by finalizing the Bilateral Investment Treaty.
