Missouri insurance agency, in initial order, denies Aetna-Humana merger as proposed (update*)

( May 25, 2016, 14:58 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Missouri Department of Insurance on Tuesday denied permission in an initial order for the merger of Aetna and Humana, as currently proposed. The department said in its order there is "substantial evidence" the deal would lessen competition specifically for the offering of Medicare Advantage policies. Under the order, which becomes final in 30 days after its issuance on Tuesday, the merged company can't offer in the state "comprehensive individual, comprehensive small group and group Medicare Advantage" coverage. The companies can submit proposals to remedy the commission's concerns and as a merged company can offer other types of insurance coverage.*...
