Container-shipping companies withdraw Norwegian JV plans

( January 19, 2018, 10:17 GMT | Official Statement) -- ​MLex Summary: Container-shipping operators Greencarrier Shipping & Logistics, DFDS Logistics and Seafront Group have pulled plans for the establishment of a new venture, Nordic Port Services. The venture would see the companies transfer their sea transport terminal business to the new operation, but the Norwegian competition authority warned the companies that it considered blocking the merger. The tie-up would have led to a reduction in competition in the handling of containers in Norwegian ports, the watchdog said, leading to an increase in prices for shipping companies reliant on such services to load containers off and on their ships.Statement follows in Norwegian....
