Google’s Swedish GDPR fine becomes final after appeal fails at top court

( December 21, 2022, 17:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google's appeal against a fine imposed by the Swedish Data Protection Authority, over its breach of the right to be forgotten, has been dismissed by the National Supreme Administrative Court, making the fine of 50 million kroner (around $4.8 million) final. In March 2020, the data authority fined Google 75 million krona for violating the General Data Protection Regulation, by its handling of the right to have search results removed (here). The fine was subsequently appealed in the administrative court and the court of appeals, where in both instances the watchdog's decision was upheld, but Google did secure a one-third reduction in its total fine.Statement follows in Swedish. ...
