Smartphones’ signal-reception capacity differs strongly, Nordic report suggests

( September 5, 2016, 12:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A report by the Nordic Council of Ministers suggests that the equipment that smartphones and tablets use to receive mobile signals differs significantly in quality, affecting the apparent performance of the mobile network. Signal quality can differ if a device is held in the right or left hand when talking, or if held in front to browse apps via data connections. The report, published by regulators in Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Finland and Denmark, suggests regulation to improve consumer awareness of these differences, feeding into a proposal by the Nordic telecom watchdogs to introduce labeling similar to that used to denote white goods’ energy efficiency.The full statement follows (in Norwegian):...
