Cargill, Sanderson Farms, Wayne Farms agree to pay $84.8 million to settle US DOJ claims over wage-fixing

( July 25, 2022, 14:28 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Cargill, Sanderson Farms and Wayne Farms, along with data consulting firm Webber, Meng, Sahl and Company, have been accused by the US Department of Justice of sharing competitively sensitive information about poultry processing plant workers’ compensation. “Through a brazen scheme to exchange wage and benefit information, these poultry processors stifled competition and harmed a generation of plant workers who face demanding and sometimes dangerous conditions to earn a living,” said Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Doha Mekki. The poultry manufacturers agreed to pay $84.8 million to settle.
