Brazil data-protection authority decree approved by Senate

( May 30, 2019, 15:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Brazilian Federal Senate has approved an amended presidential decree creating a national data protection authority, according to a statement. The provisional law was sent to the executive branch and needs approval from President Jair Bolsonaro to finally come into force. The decree seeks to give more protection to personal data and establishes exceptions in which the government can pass the data to private companies, provided that the new data protection authority is informed first.Brazilian Federal Senate statement follows in Portuguese....
