Italian rules for parapharmacies appear not to breach EU competition law, EU court suggests

( March 12, 2015, 10:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The EU’s highest court has said it found no indications of breaches of EU rules governing the abuse of a dominant position or a monopoly, in response to questions referred from an Italian court. The regional administrative court in Sicily wanted to know whether national legislation that prohibits parapharmacies from selling prescription drugs — whose cost cannot be claimed back from the public healthcare system — is in line with EU competition rules.
