Trafigura ‘defrauded’ over $577 million nickel purchase

( February 9, 2023, 15:18 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Commodities trader Trafigura Group said today it had been subjected to a $577 million fraud, connected to the purchase of containerized nickel in 2022. The metal in question didn't contain the promised nickel, Trafigura said. The "systematic fraud" was committed by Prateek Gupta and companies including TMT Metals and companies owned by UD Trading Group. Trafigura said it has opened legal action against Gupta and the companies.Statement follows....
