Colorado bill regulating high-risk AI tools heads to governor

If Governor Jared Polis signs SB 205 into law, makers and deployers of high-risk AI systems in Colorado will have to tell the public how their technology operates, how it’s used, and who it could hurt. Polis will “review the final language of the bill when it reaches his desk,” spokesperson Eric Maruyama said. Colorado is poised to become the first US state to pass legislation putting guardrails around high-risk artificial intelligence tools that make consequential decisions about consumers’ lives, despite opposition from business groups....
