EU ring-fence plan should cover all banks, Swedish competition authority says

( March 11, 2014, 17:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The EU's proposal to ring-fence banks' trading operations into legally separate units would cause significant competitive distortions if it is only applied to large banks, the Swedish competition authority said. The European Commission's market analysis for the proposal is flawed, the authority added, as it doesn’t take into account that retail banking markets, particularly in small countries, are mainly national. The authority said it has nothing against a simultaneous proposal to regulate securities-based financing.Full statement follows in Swedish....
