GoodRx, Meta, Google broke privacy law by profiting from sensitive health data, plaintiffs say in US class action

( February 2, 2023, 22:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Telemedicine platform GoodRx shared sensitive health data with Meta, Google, and Criteo which allowed them to serve ads in violation of California privacy laws, plaintiffs claim in a class action complaint filed at a California federal court. The unnamed "Jane Doe" plaintiff representing the proposed class of GoodRx users claims the company shared her personally identifiable information, health data, prescription requests and other activity with the advertisers. The lawsuit was filed as GoodRx reached a $1.5 million settlement with the US Federal Trade Commission in which it agreed not to use any health information for advertising purposes.Court document attached....
