Microsoft, UK government sign 5-year deal as tech giant launches Copilot AI agents

By Frank Hersey ( October 21, 2024, 14:54 GMT | Insight) -- Microsoft and the UK government have signed a five-year agreement designed to enable cheaper take-up of Microsoft services across the public sector, including for the first time the artificial intelligence features known collectively as Copilot. The tech giant also launched autonomous agents within the Copilot platform which the likes of Clifford Chance and McKinsey and Company have been piloting.The UK public sector is being incentivized to adopt Microsoft products, including its Copilot functions for the first time. Microsoft CEO Sataya Nadella expects public sector use of its software could prove what he considers the most impactful deployment of its AI tools. Copilot users will be able to create agents via writing rules in natural language, the tech giant announced in a major launch in London today....
