( October 29, 2020, 04:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Australia’s privacy watchdog has confirmed it is looking into a leaked Chinese database that compiled personal information on 35,000 prominent Australians. Falk, who heads the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, said she is assessing whether the leak requires further regulatory action. “We consider the harm that might be occasioned,” Falk told the Senate Estimates hearing. “The seriousness of the matter is one of the factors that we would consider if further regulatory action is warranted.”The full transcript of Angelene Falk's hearing in the Australian Senate is attached.
