Customers face higher water costs from UK CMA's findings on Ofwat's price-cap plan, says UK's Ofwat

( October 27, 2020, 12:07 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Customers risk being faced with higher water bills as a result of the Competition and Market Authority's provisional findings on Ofwat's approach over a price-cap plan for the sector, the UK water regulator has said in submissions to the CMA. Anglian Water, Bristol Water, Northumbrian Water and Yorkshire Water brought cases against Ofwat's price controls. In the CMA's provisional findings last month, the companies have been given more funding for certain projects, but the CMA said they also should be subject to a challenging set of performance targets. Anglian Water, Bristol Water, Northumbrian Water and Yorkshire Water also made submissions to the CMA. The CMA will make its final findings by March 18 next year.Statement follows.
