RTL Group, Talpa Network deal faces Dutch prohibition

( January 30, 2023, 07:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: RTL Group will not receive Dutch approval for its acquisition of Talpa Network, the broadcaster said. In June 2021, the German company announced plans to buy the Dutch media conglomerate, but it has been unable to assuage concerns by the Dutch competition authority regarding the national TV advertising market. "The proposed remedy was to completely outsource the advertising sales of Talpa Network’s TV channels to Mediahuis Nederland," RTL said, noting the market test "did not sufficiently mitigate [the regulator's] concerns." It said the authority would need "a few weeks to finalize the formal decision."The statement is attached....
