Toshiba releases update on efforts to improve internal oversight

( August 18, 2016, 05:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- Toshiba has released an update on its efforts to improve its internal oversight after last year's accounting fraud scandal. Its statement says, for instance, that it has received many reports following the establishment of a new whistleblower mechanism in October last year. The company's audit committee, which oversees the whistleblower mechanism, will look into cases that may require further investigation. Toshiba will also strengthen the functions of its chief financial offer, who will work more closely with the audit committee.
