Comment: AI, cloud services in Australian antitrust watchdog's sights as data collection drives digital-platform probe

Gina Cass-Gottlieb, the head of the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission, told MLex that the watchdog is now weighing up where it will turn its attention next for the second half of a five-year digital platform probe set to conclude in 2025. It must decide which services are “most relevant” to Australian users and businesses, she said.There was a time when the mere suggestion that Apple, Google and Meta Platforms’ dominance across app stores, search, adtech and social-media services needed to be reined in by mandatory codes of conduct would have dominated the news cycle....
