Consumer-law probe extends Australian government's artificial intelligence consultation fest

By Ryan Cropp ( October 15, 2024, 04:48 GMT | Insight) -- The flood of Australian inquiries and consultations into artificial intelligence has continued unabated, with the government today releasing a new discussion paper on the application of the technology to the country’s existing consumer laws. The paper, which was compiled by the government’s Treasury Department, follows the recent announcement of similar reviews by the Health, Industry, Finance and Attorney General’s Departments, the competition watchdog, as well as three separate parliamentary probes.
