G7 data protection authorities seek closer enforcement cooperation following meetings this week

By Mike Swift ( October 12, 2024, 00:44 GMT | Insight) -- Meeting in Rome this week, the G7 nations' data protection regulators identified three "pillars" of focus: emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, the need to find more interoperability in international data transfer systems, and an increasing focus on "concrete bilateral or multilateral coordinated enforcement actions."The privacy and data protection regulators for the G7 nations said following a two-day meeting in Rome this week that they would increasingly focus on closer international enforcement cooperation, saying working more closely to enforce data protection laws within the G7 and beyond would benefit companies as well as citizens....
