Chicago wins partial victory in sanctuary city suit

( September 15, 2017, 22:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Trump administration's ban on law enforcement grants for sanctuary cities was partially and temporarily blocked nationwide by a federal judge in Chicago. Chicago was the first of several cities and states suing Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who imposed grant conditions in July requiring localities to cooperate with federal immigration officials when they arrest undocumented people. Although cities don't have to notify and provide immigration officials with access to prisoners before they are released, the preliminary injunction said they have to comply with federal law requiring the sharing of information they collect on citizenship status in order to be eligible for the grants.See document below....
