Reform of EU electricity market design now out for public feedback

( January 23, 2023, 11:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A public consultation on the EU electricity market design reform has been published by the European Commission. The reform is needed to “shield households and businesses from high energy prices, to increase resilience, and to accelerate the transition” towards net-zero greenhouse-gas emissions and away from Russian fossil fuels, a commission statement says. “It is crucial that all Europeans, from large industrial consumers to SMEs and households, benefit from the growth and low operational costs of renewables,” the statement reads. The consultation is open until Feb. 13. The reform proposal is expected in the first quarter of this year.Press release follows; PDF and consultation document attached....
