Comply with Digital Services Act or face court action, EU tells six countries

( April 24, 2024, 13:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Six EU member states are facing infringement procedures from the European Commission, for failing to designate or fully empower their digital services coordinators, as required under the Digital Services Act. Estonia, Poland and Slovakia have yet to designate, while Cyprus, Czechia and Portugal haven't given their DSCs sufficient powers, such as the ability to impose sanctions. The deadline for appointing DSCs, which are seen as integral in enforcing the DSA, fell on Feb. 17. The countries have two months from receiving the infringement letters to resolve the problems, otherwise the commission may escalate to a reasoned opinion, the next step on the way to a European Court of Justice hearing.Statement follows:...
