In announcing the 2024 Treasury Laws Amendment (Mergers and Acquisitions Reform) Bill today, Australian Treasurer Jim Chalmers said the new resourcing is being provided “enthusiastically,” recognizing that the responsibilities being taken on by the watchdog require more funding.The details of Australia’s landmark merger-law overhaul have finally been announced, with the government saying it plans to grant the competition regulator new responsibilities and support its increased workload through an additional A$56 million ($37.6 million) in funding....
